The public Outreach Process on the Draft Plan

Documentation of the Public Process The Snelling Center, which convened and facilitated the public outreach forums on the Public Review Draft, prepared a final report documenting the process. Final Report of the public outreach process Attachment A: Promotion Attachment B: Media Attachment C: Comment card Attachment D: Public session introduction Public session handouts and posters Attachment E: Session evaluation Public Forums Between April 29 and May 18, VELCO hosted six meetings around the state to gather public input on the draft plan. VELCO engaged the Snelling Center for Government to convene and facilitate these meetings. The final plan and results of the public forums will be posted by July 1, 2009. Forums were held in these dates and locations:. Monday, April 27 at 5:30 pm Holiday Inn, Rutland Wednesday, April 29 at 5:30 pm Lake Morey Resort, Fairlee Tuesday, May 5 at 5:30 pm Sheraton Hotel, Burlington Thursday, May 7 at 5:30 pm Catamount Arts, St. Johnsbury Wednesday, May 13 at 5:30 pm Marlboro Tech Center, Brattleboro Monday, May 18 at 1:30 pm Noble Hall, VT College of Fine Arts, Montpelier The sessions included an overview of the plan, information kiosks on key issues, facilitated discussions, and an opportunity to meet with staff from VELCO and local utilities. Refreshments were served and accommodations were available for persons with disabilities.	The Public Review Draft These pages document the public process that was used to gather public input on the 2009 Vermont Long-Range Transmission Plan -- Public Review Draft. The section provides information about the planning process, the outreach effort, and a wealth of background materials. On July 1, 2009, VELCO filed the 2009 Vermont Long-Range Transmission Plan. Its purpose is to look out 20 years to identify potential reliability problems and their transmission solutions, and to serve as the first step for additional work to analyze Non-Transmission Alternatives (NTAs) such as local generation and energy efficiency. In April and May, VELCO sought public input on a Public Review Draft of the Plan. This input process, along with the input provided by the Vermont System Planning Committee during its two-month comment process, are vital steps in Vermont's new transmission planning process.
