Rutland, VT  – Vermont Electric Power Company (VELCO) announces today the appointment of Daniel Nelson as VELCO’s Vice President of Technology following a unanimous vote of the company’s Board of Directors. Mr. Nelson had been serving as the company’s Director of Technology since 2015.

“Dan has done tremendous work successfully leading our IT and Telecommunications teams. Going forward, these areas present some of the most significant risks and opportunities for VELCO in a rapidly transforming energy industry”, said VELCO President and CEO Tom Dunn.  He added, “Dan has truly earned this promotion.”

Mr. Nelson’s background includes twenty years serving in a variety of management and director positions responsible for conception, build out, and maintenance of VELCO’s 1,600-mile fiber network. Prior to his new designation, he was leading the planning and management of Telecommunications and Information Systems providing applications, network connectivity, computing and security for critical operational and business systems.

“I am grateful to the VELCO Board for their support and am excited at the prospect of working even more closely with VELCO leadership”, responded Mr. Nelson.  “Our IT and Telecommunications teams are second to none.  We have several exciting initiatives underway to improve grid reliability and deliver innovative services to our customers. Mr. Nelson earned his Electrical Engineering Technology degree from Vermont Technical College in Randolph. He and his wife Michele and two sons live in Rutland Town.
