Rutland, VT–Vermont Electric Power Company (VELCO) announces the election of Ms. Michele Nelson to serve as VELCO’s Chief Financial Officer effective immediately. Ms. Nelson had been serving as the company’s Vice President of Finance since 2012. The VELCO Board of Directors unanimously approved Nelson’s elevation at their February 5 meeting.

Her unparalleled expertise in regional utility rate and tariff structures,project financing options and disciplined fiscal approach are more valuable than ever as the electric industry continues to rapidly evolve.”

In citing Ms. Nelson’s growth and accomplishments, VELCO President and CEO Tom Dunn stated,

“Michele is a key member of my executive team. She couples her keen financial acumen with a strong commitment to live VELCO’s values to produce work I rely on. Today’s promotion was well deserved.”

Michele previously served as Treasurer since 2010, Assistant Treasurer since 2008, and Manager of Accounting since 1995. Prior to joining VELCO, she was an Internal Auditor at Central Vermont Public Service. Ms. Nelson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Vermont. Michele and her husband Dan and two sons live in Rutland Town.
