An internship at VELCO provides learning opportunities to college students who are interested in careers in power or electric utility engineering, environmental management, and many related fields.
The first step is a virtual interview with a member of Human Resources, the hiring manager, and potentially other team members. Step two is an onsite interview with an expanded VELCO team. From there the hiring team will make a final decision. Once the final candidate is selected we will request three references from the candidate (one of which needs to be a current or most recent manager) and schedule a drug test, physical, and background check. All VELCO employment offers are contingent upon references, screenings, and proof of Covid-19 vaccination (religious and medical exception may apply).
It depends on the volume of applicants, the position, and the time it takes to review the applicants. Generally, applicants who are invited for an interview are contacted within two to three weeks of the application posting date.
Yes. We offer relocation reimbursement for qualifying new hires.
This depends on the role, we have a diverse workforce with employees falling into three main categories. Our field positions are predominantly on-site or in the field, our administrative roles follow a hybrid model, requiring employees to be present at our Rutland campus for a minimum of two days each week. We do have a limited number of fully remote positions. At VELCO, our company culture is integral to our success, and we value in-person interactions as they contribute significantly to our culture's vibrancy and effectiveness.

This approach proves beneficial for individuals to onboard alongside their peers whenever feasible. Nevertheless we aim to be flexible. Additionally we encourage candidates to give their current employers the customary two weeks' notice when possible.
